Fittingly, the last words of God’s revealed word to mankind end with the final extension of the grace of God…and to that He adds the small benedictory word “Amen”.

It was a custom passed from worship in the ancient synagogues to the Christian assemblies. When the speaker had read the Hebrew text and had offered up solemn prayer to God, all in attendance responded "Amen"...thus making the substance of the prayer that was uttered their own.

This most remarkable word was translated directly from the Hebrew into Greek of the New Testament, Latin, English and then into many other languages rendering it practically a universal word and one that has been called the 'best known word in human speech'. Although we use it today in a most flippant way to signify our agreement with something someone has said, its usage in the Bible gives it its most dynamic and profound renderings.

The word is almost identical to the Hebrew word for "believe" or "faithful". Thus it came to mean 'surely' or 'truly' which are expressions of absolute trust and confidence. Here the Apostle John closes the inspired, complete and exhaustive written word of God to mankind and here he uses it in it's most emphatic form which means "may it be fulfilled!"

That one insignificant little word renders all 66 books, 1189 chapters, 31,102 verses, 773,693 words, 3,566,480 letters (every jot and tiddle) as part of God's comprehensive plan to bring to fulfillment His WORDS and the future for each one of us, this earth, this universe, indeed ALL creation!...

To that I say with total and absolute trust and confidence...AMEN!
